As of February 12, 11 long-term drinking water advisories have been lifted in Slate Falls Nation, a community in Northern Ontario which has had these advisories in place since 2004. Since 2016, the Government of Canada has invested in 349 water and wastewater projects in 275 communities across the country, and since 2015, 52 long-term drinking water advisories on public systems on reserve have been lifted. It is the Government’s goal that by March 2021, the 81 remaining drinking water advisories on reserve will be lifted.
