Budget 2022

Budget 2022

On April 7, 2022, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, released Budget 2022: A Plan to Grow our Economy and Make Life More Affordable. Our economy has recovered 112% of the jobs that were lost during the first months of COVID and our real GDP is a full 1.3% above where it was before the pandemic, but Canadians know that fighting COVID and the COVID recession has come at a high price. We will continue to review and reduce government spending because that is the responsible thing to do. However, our first step is investing in people, the backbone of a strong and growing economy.

Budget 2022 proposes three pillars: investing in people, investing in the green transition, and investing in innovation and productivity. These pillars will create jobs and prosperity today, and build a stronger economic future for our children. This budget is a plan to grow our economy and make life more affordable. We encourage you to see below for the various highlights that our government will be moving forward with as we work to build back even better with Canadians.
