Canada’s 5 Innovation Superclusters Announced

In 2017, the Government of Canada challenged Canadian businesses, research institutions, and other innovation actors to propose projects and initiatives that would create jobs and spark innovation in Canada. Five of these proposals have been chosen to receive part of the $950 million that the Government is investing into its Innovation Superclusters Initiative.

Two of the five chosen initiatives have ties to Waterloo. The SCALE.AI supercluster is developing a new Artificial Intelligence based global supply chain platform. The Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster will be based in Ontario, and will help increase collaboration between manufacturing and technology. Both of these initiatives are being developed with involvement from the University of Waterloo.
