Canada’s Commitment to Reducing Homelessness

We are creating a new generation of housing in Canada. Through the National Housing Strategy, we are investing $40 billion to create 100,000 new affordable housing units, repair over 300,000 existing affordable housing units, and are committed to reducing chronic homeless by 50%.

Our Government believes that one homeless person is one too many. As part of the National Housing Strategy, we are taking a community-based approach to homelessness, and will be supporting municipalities and local service providers in their innovative solutions to homelessness.  It is our goal to create diverse communities, and a more equal Canada for everyone.
