Canada’s Global Leadership on Gender Equality

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau created the Gender Equality Advisory Council for Canada’s G7 presidency. The goal of this Council is to ensure gender equality and gender-based analysis are integrated within all aspects of the presidency. The 2018 G7 summit will be in Charlevoix, QC, from June 8-9, 2018.

The Council has completed a report titled “Making Gender Inequality History”, which provides a set of bold recommendations on how to promote gender equality during the G7 presidency. Gender equality is a fundamental human right, and a top priority for Canada. Our Government is committed to working with our international partners at the G7 summit to promote the rights of women and girls.
