New Protections for Fish and their Habitat

The Ministry of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard recently announced amendments to the Fisheries Act that would restore lost protections and introduce new modern safeguards to protect our fish and their habitat for generations to come. The Ministry also announced an investment of up to $284.2 million to support restoring lost protections to fish and introducing new modern safeguards, support impact assessments as they relate to the Fisheries Act, and funding for increasing participation and partnering with Indigenous peoples.
