Addressing employment barriers faced by newcomers is a priority for our Government. On June 20th, World Refugee Day, Hon. Bardish Chagger, Minister of Small Business and Tourism, and Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship announced funding for a pilot project to connect newcomers with jobs in the hotel industry. The $7 million in funding for this project will help more than 1300 newcomers, including refugees, gain job experience and language training.
