Canada Supporting Bid to Co-host FIFA 2026 World Cup

Earlier this week Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Kirsty Duncan, announced that the Government of Canada is supporting-in-principle the United 2026 bid to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

While Canada has never hosted the FIFA World Cup for Men, we have hosted all other FIFA competitions – most notably the Women’s World Cup in 2015 which brought together 1.35 millions spectators from around the globe.

The United 2026 bid gives Canadian athletes the opportunity to compete on home soil, and gives Canadians the opportunity to watch world class sport first-hand. Canada is an incredibly multicultural country, which will help every team feel like a home team.
