Connecting 16 First Nations Communities to the Power Grid

Today the Federal Government announced $1.6 billion in funding to connect 16 Ontario First Nations to the provincial power grid. Indigenous-led Wataynikaneyap Power will be leading this project.

Currently, power in these communities is diesel-generated. By being connected to the power grid, greenhouse gas emissions from these communities will be significantly lowered, and the communities will be able to have access to more clean, safe, and reliable energy.
