Social Media Terms of Use
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of expression for all. We welcome your comments via social media; however, we ask that your input be thoughtful and respectful.
We also recognize the need to maintain personal confidentiality and cannot guarantee the security of personal information sent over social media, and constituents requiring assistance or wanting to share their position on matters of important to them should contact our office directly.
To these ends, we have established the following guidelines for social media use.
Guidelines
As many school-aged children access these pages as part of their schoolwork about government, we ask that anything posted be appropriate to be seen by all audiences.
Profanity, personal attacks, and any forms of discrimination or harassment are unacceptable and may be removed.
Do not send any personal information, including your social insurance number (SIN), personal details, or file number(s) over social media.
All inquires requiring the attention of your Member of Parliament should be made through email or phone, in person, or by mail. We do not respond to inquires made through social media.
Violations of Guidelines
Comments, posts, and messages that violate our Terms of Use or the social media platform’s user guidelines may be hidden, deleted, removed, or reported without warning.
Users ignoring or violating these guidelines will have their access to our social media pages restricted.
